Ahead of Trade Talks, China Says It Won’t Submit to U.S. ‘Threats’

STI fell -1.6%, - 55 points to STI 3358, while Hang Seng Index fell -1.5%, -462 points to HSI 30260 mid-day, ahead of US-China Trade Talks this afternoon.


“Our great financial team is in China trying to negotiate a level playing field on trade!” Trump tweeted on Thursday.


“I look forward to being with President Xi in the not too distant future. We will always have a good (great) relationship!”

Vice Premier Liu He, the top economic adviser to President Xi Jinping, will lead the delegation meeting Thursday and Friday with U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and White House advisers Larry Kudlow and Peter Navarro

Intel reported a strong Q1 sales/EPS beat

 Intel announced a strong Q1 sales/EPS beat, issued above-consensus Q2 guidance 
and hiked its full-year sales guidance by $2.5 billion to $66.5 billion to $68.5 billion 
(implies 7% growth at the midpoint).
